Director: Leslie Kimbell
Genre: Drama/comedy

Synopsis:
This love story of Ethel and Norman Thayer takes place on Golden Pond as they return for their 48th summer. He is almost eighty years old and is a retired professor with heart palpitations and a failing memory, but he is still as tart-tongued, observant and eager for life as ever. Ethel is a few years younger and delights in all the small things that have enriched their life together. Their summer is interrupted by a visit from their divorced daughter and her fiance who convince the Thayers to take care of his teenage son while they take their trip. The boy quickly becomes the "grandchild" the elderly couple have longed for.
Ernest Thompson wrote "On Golden Pond" at the age of 28. The show opened off Broadway in 1978 and was published the following year. The film version of the play earned him an Academy Award.
